“Live the word, build a better world” was the theme for this year’s St. Paul National bible quiz bee competition throughout the whole country. Last July 11, 2015, 6 students from SJS-M were given an opportunity to witness and join the said competition which catered 19 schools throughout Cebu and Cebu Province. The competition was held in Sacred Heart – Hijas de Hesus.

The program started with the registration of the participants and the introduction of the different schools who joined. St. Joseph’s School-Mactan, St. Louis College, University of San Carlos (BED), and Sisters of Mary both boys town and girls town are just some of the schools that witnessed this activity and many others as well. The competition was divided into 3 categories: the Old Testament, Gospels, and Acts, Letters, & Revelation in which each member of the team must answer a category individually. Even though the test only had 25 questions in it, it was indeed a challenging one. In the end, Sisters of Mary (girls town) were crowned victors of the 6th Bible Quiz in Cebu. They would have to fight for their spot in the regionals in order to get to the Nationals as well as the runner-ups; Sisters of Mary (Dalaguete), Sisters of Mary (boys town), University of San Jose Recoletos (BED), University of San Carlos (BED), and St. Louis College.

Although SJSM wasn’t able to make it to the Regionals, it was still a wonderful exposure for the students and for the school as well. Being part of the competition is already an honor for all of us.
