The Division Leadership Training for Supreme Pupil Government (SPG), Supreme Student Government (SSG) Officers and Advisers was successfully held on July 04, 2015 at our school, St. Joseph’s School of Mactan.

The said event was participated by the student leaders and advisers from the elementary and secondary schools of Lapu-Lapu City Division. It’s goal is to: expose the pupils/student to various leadership concepts to give them a broader outlook and example in their leadership role, help them understand the intricacies of dealing and managing the SPG/SSG in the school, and teach in them the right leadership skills, values and attitudes to lead properly.

Before the training started, registration was done for the division of North, South, East, and West District. I can totally feel and see the enthusiasm smiles of every student leaders and advisers and it was the perfect way of starting their day to participate this kind of training.

Moving on, the program was followed by a spiritual Holy Mass led by Father Martin. Then, Sr. Agnes V. Labitoria, SFIC warmly welcomed the delegates and the inspirational talk was delivered by our very own Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Eduardo A. Ompad.

The plenary sessions was started right after the opening program. Moreover, the students and their advisers were separated on their leadership training proper. Their advisers’ training was led by Rev. Father Rudy Iballe, MSC. On the other hand, elementary and secondary student-leaders were facilitated by witty speakers from DepEd Lapu-Lapu City. They performed different yet fun games and activities. They had their Team Building and much more which assessed their abilities, talents and how they build relationship and collaborate with other students from diverse schools. Indeed, the whole morning activity was enjoyed by many.

Furthermore, they continued their team building after they have eaten their lunches and roamed around our school campus. The afternoon affair was the most awaited part of the training featuring SPG/SSG Top Models wherein the chosen student leaders showcased their talent in modeling, creativity and resourcefulness in dress making that are made out of recycled materials. On the latter part, the winners were also proclaimed and ended the program well.

On the sum, the SPG/SSG Officers and Advisers Leadership Training gauges the taste of character and true leadership in them. It was a great privilege at that time in our school to hold this kind of training which is for the good of them and the good of their people.
