September 8, 2014 was the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and also our celebration of the 19th Foundation Day of our beloved school, SJSM.

The event started with a Holy Mass with the theme “Soaring Transformative Education at the Service of Creation.” It meant a new way of applying education in developing our surroundings. The whole student body went to blissful silence when the mass begun. Well, we can’t avoid being bored but all we need is to understand the mass to find it interesting.

On that day, we honored and remembered Mary’s central role in the redemption of the world, as Mother of God. In the Gospel reading, a phrase that caught my eye is “She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” She gave his only son to us, for us to be saved. The Gospel opened the eyes of every student to the true role of Mama Mary. “Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel, which means “God is with us.”
