SJSM’s Historical Sketch

St. Joseph's School of Mactan - SFIC Convent

SJSM was incorporated and registered at the Securities and Exchange Commission on September 11, 1995. On May 27, 1998, the Department of Education (DepEd) granted Government Recognition to the Pre-Elementary and Elementary Programs and to the Secondary Education Program on July 1, 2003. After complying with all the DepEd requirements, the School opened its Senior High School classes in June 2016.

It was accepted to membership to the Catholic Education Association of the Philippines (CEAP) on September 20, 2001. Since June 2005, the School has been included in the Education Service Contracting Program of the Department of Education. The Bureau of Immigration also gave authorization to the School to accept foreign students subject to the compliance with all existing government rules and regulations.

To be assured that it was rendering quality education in line with its Vision and Mission, SJSM submitted itself to the accreditation process of the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU). Thus, on June 21, 2010 the Basic Education Department was granted accreditation status for a period of three years; a certificate granting Level I Accredited Status to the School’s Integrated Basic Education Program was issued on June 28, 2010 by the Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines (FAAP) and on January 29, 2015 FAAP raised its accreditation status to Level II Status until November 2019.

After a three-day planning seminar-workshop of representatives of the Board of Trustees, Administration, Faculty, and Staff in 2014, it adopted its enhanced Vision, Mission, and Core Values
